Mmmm...I had the distinct pleasure of trying Aunt Dvo's challah when I was the (very well-fed) roommate of the Cookbook Addict. And I was just recently thinking that Aunt Dvo's challah was the best I'd ever tasted! If any of you find yourselves craving a massive amount of challah, I would definitely suggest trying this recipe.

Could you please post the recipe for Greg Patent's POTICA, if you can? It looks incredibly yummy and enticing on the photo. But I live in England, and, unfortunately, can't get my hands on his latest book.

Hey Lena,

If you send me your email, I would be happy to email it to you! You can email me from the link in the sidebar.

Thank you so much for reviewing this book - I've really been debating over whether or not to get it, and this is definately another layer of consideration :) do you think you would still like the book if you were not much of a sweet tooth person? what intrigued me were the savory recipes, but now, i'm a little cautious since you found them to be not as good as the sweet ones.

Mr. Addict

I didn't get a chance to weigh on this post yet.

My favorites were the Potica and the Cardamom rolls.

The Potica was unbelievably addictive, and had flavors like chocolate that weren't even in it! Really amazing, one of those deceptively simple foods as it takes forever to make, yet appears simple.

I didnt have the pleasure of trying the Cardamom rolls fresh from the oven, but they were amazing the next day. A flavor combo that you wouldn't think would work but really did.

The Feta turnovers were ok (Full disclosure: I am not a fan of Feta)

Having consumed many pieces of the Challah recipe, I highly endorse this as well!

Hey gruzia,

That's a good question...there are definitely some interesting savory recipes in there, and I only tried two. If you buy lots of cookbooks, it's probably worth adding this one to your collection for its unusual savory recipes.

If you do get it -- please let me know how the recipes you try come out!

Y

That Potica looks so mesmerising!

Ok, so this will be short. I think we have a bit of a problem here. Your blog is stunning. And I had never come across it before.

Where have I been?

Anyway, please excuse my random ramblings. Your pictures are gorgeous.

xx fanny
